The Future of Retail, According to a Top Analyst from Forrester

How Retailers & Brands Are Leveraging Mobile Technology

The GoSpotCheck by FORM Digital Customer Summit is an opportunity for the FORM team to share our technology roadmap as well as key insights and predictions from top analysts.

At the 2021 Summit, Forrester Senior Analyst Scott Compton explored the future of retail in 2022 and beyond and shared key insights that brands need to know to succeed.

Nearly three years after the COVID-19 pandemic, retailers are still navigating the new shopping landscape and consumer habits. Many are also trying to balance in-store and online shopping behaviors. According to Compton, even with the reliance on online shopping during the pandemic, 72% of retail will still take place offline in 2024.

Compton also shared insights into how retailers are deploying cutting-edge mobile technology to optimize operations and enhance customer experiences. In a recent Forrester survey, business executives identified the following areas as key actions they’re taking to reduce costs in 2022:

  • 33% are improving productivity through automation
  • 28% are improving employee retention
  • 27% are adopting emerging tech solutions

Retail teams are using this technology for on-site task management, communication, workflow integration, and direct visibility to headquarters to ensure consistency and quality throughout every store.
